Installing a CPU Heatsink

Remove power from the system and unplug the AC power cord from the 1.

power supply.

Remove the fan from the black plastic fan holder.2.

Do not apply any thermal grease to the heatsink or the CPU die; the required 3.

amount has already been applied.

Place the heatsink on top of the CPU. Make sure that the fan will face the 4.

front of the chassis and the four sets of heatsink screws with springs are

aligned with the mounting holes on the heatsink back plate.

Screw in two diagonal screws (i.e. the #1 and the #2 screws) until just snug. 5.

(Do not exceed 5.0 kgf-cm/4.3 lbf-in) and keep the screw direction vertical.)

Add the two remaining screws then ﬁ nish the installation by fully tightening all 6.

Connect the fan connector to the CPU fan header on the serverboard.8.

Removing the Heatsink

To remove the heatsink, follow the above procedure in the reverse order.
