Chapter 1: Introduction

The X7QCE features an integrated ATI video controller based on the ES1000 graph-

ics chip. The ES1000 was designed speciﬁ cally for servers, featuring low power

consumption, high reliability and superior longevity.

IPMI

IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface) is a hardware-level interface speci-

ﬁ cation that provides remote access, monitoring and administration for Supermicro

server platforms. IPMI allows server administrators to view a server’s hardware

status remotely, receive an alarm automatically if a failure occurs, and power cycle

a system that is non-responsive.

Other Features

Other onboard features that promote system health include onboard voltage moni-

tors, a chassis intrusion header, auto-switching voltage regulators, chassis and CPU

overheat sensors, virus protection and BIOS rescue.
